Enclosures/Cage
Cage space is one of the most important things guinea pigs need. Bigger space gives them an area to do zoomies, popcorns, etc. When choosing a cage, you need to make sure that it is big enough as shown in the chart above. Although ramps and 2nd floors are fun for your piggies, you should always measure the first level only, second levels don’t count toward our minimum floor space requirements. You should also make sure that there is no wire bottom in the cage and/or the litter pans as that can cause painful injuries like bumblefoot. Along with a proper introduction on neutral territory, adequate living space is the most important element to guarantee a lasting bond and prevent battles over territory.
