Looking to Adopt a Guinea Pig?
Guinea pigs make wonderful pets thanks to their gentle nature, charming personalities, and chatty nature. They're social animals that form strong bonds with their owners, often greeting them with cheerful squeaks and excited zoomies.
While guinea pigs are great pets for all ages. they can be incorrectly perceived as “starter pets” for kiddos. They are often given up or abandoned when it becomes clear that they can be higher maintenance, more expensive or more fragile than expected. One of our main goals at Cavies and Canines is education – we want your family to find a pet that is the perfect fit … a win-win for everyone! Adopting a pet is a lifetime commitment to an animal that will be your loving companion and your best friend. Our goal is to keep animals in loving homes and off the streets and out of shelters.
What to Know About Adopting
PAIRS
Our guinea pigs are available for adoption ONLY as same-sex pairs or as a friend for an existing guinea pig(s). For the latter situation, we will help to facilitate matchmaking/bonding sessions to ensure that there is compatibility between potential guinea pig partners.
HEALTH
All of our guinea pigs undergo a health/behavior evaluation and are treated for parasites, if needed. All females are placed on 10-week pregnancy watch before adoption.
