Cavies and Canines Animal Rescue

Cavies & Canines Animal Rescue is a PACFA-licensed nonprofit dedicated to the care and placement of guinea pigs in need. Founded in 2016 and proudly based in Colorado since 2018, we operate entirely through a network of loving foster homes — never kennels or shelters. Each guinea pig in our care lives with a foster family who provides daily attention, socialization, and individualized support until a forever home is found.

Our founder, Natalie Riggs, has been a passionate advocate for guinea pigs since 1995. Her knowledge, compassion, and tireless commitment form the heart of our rescue. At Cavies & Canines, we believe even the smallest animals deserve safety, dignity, and love — and that community-driven rescue is the most powerful way to make that possible.

At Cavies & Canines Animal Rescue, we offer a full range of services to support both our animals and the families who care for them. These include adoptions, educational resources, rehoming assistance, nail trims, health checks, boarding, parasite treatment, and bonding support for those introducing new guinea pigs to existing companions.

All of our guinea pigs are quarantined upon intake to ensure the safety of our herd. Before being made available for adoption, each piggie receives a thorough health evaluation and behavioral assessment to help ensure a smooth transition into their new home. Female guinea pigs are placed on a 10-week pregnancy watch out of an abundance of caution and care.

To support long-term health and bonding, we offer free nail trims and wellness checks for all adopters — because our commitment doesn’t end at adoption. Whether you're a first-time piggy parent or a seasoned herd manager, we're here to help every step of the way.

Interested in meeting a piggy?

We offer meet-and-greet sessions so you can spend time getting to know our rescues before making a commitment. If you're hoping to find a companion for your current piggy, we’re happy to help arrange bonding sessions to ensure it’s a safe and compatible match.
